    Do you need a LIMS?

Most labs do, although some fight it until the very last possible minute. Let's face it, we all hate change. That's provable. How many of you would call an auto insurance company, right now, if you knew it could save you $20.00 a year? Probably none of us. Yet if we saw a $20 bill in the road, we would pick it up in a second. The difference? Calling an insurance company takes time, is considered an inconvenience, and it will result in change.

We are all naturally resistant to change.

The reality is, however, that change is usually forced on us. Some labs have no choice but to upgrade. They just can't do the work quickly enough. It's a simple matter of arithmetic: If your lab can only accommodate a certain number of analysts, and they can only do a certain amount of work per day w/o an electronic means of saving time, then you have identified the maximum amount of work that your lab can do. You've 'hit the wall' so to speak. That is a scenario in which growth becomes impossible. With a LIMS, the sky is the limit.

How do you know if you really need a LIMS?

Take the test.

Please select the answer that best describes your lab. Select in the following way:
  • 1 = Never
  • 2 = Seldom
  • 3 = Half the time
  • 4 = Majority of the time
  • 5 = Always
How often do you or your staff... 1 2 3 4 5
...wish that your data was at your fingertips?
...wish that everyday tasks could be automated?
...spend excess time creating monthly reports?
...spend excess time creating annual reports?
...'misplace' hard copy?
...have to look for new places to store paper files?
